Shahjahanpur: The incident of painting the statue of Mahatma Gandhi in saffron took place in Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh

According to the sources, the incident belongs to the police station area of Dana Ghanshyampur village in Banda. In this village, some 20 years ago,Mahatma Gandhi's statue, in all white colour was established. But suddenly, one morning, villagers saw that the statue was all painted in saffron .

After, such incident, the opposition parties have raised their objection. Congress party workers had threatened to protest on the road, if no actions were taken against the doers. On the other hand, the members of Vishwa Hindu Parishad said that the statues will continue to be painted in saffron. 

According to the officials, due to the sudden change in the colour of the statue, there is a lot of anger among people of the area. Locals said that politics should not be done with Mahatma Gandhi. 

The District Administrator is investigating the case. According to Bachu Singh, ADO, “We are investigating the matter and necessary actions will be taken”.
