Woman alleges rape bid by inspector, reaches SSP office with his badge

Jhansi: In an another incident, an inspector posted in Baruanagar police station has been alleged of rape attempt by a woman on Friday. The woman reached the SSP office holding the inspector's badge as proof and narrated her ordeal to the cops.

According to the woman, Banwari Lal came to her in a drunk condition and forced himself on her. As she struggled to get herself free during the rape bid, the badge of his duty uniform tore. She made her attempts to freed self and thus raised an alarm and her family members and villagers came to resuce her, however, Inspector Lal managed to flee, the alleged victim claimed.
"I keep the badge so that I can produce it later as evidence," she said.
Jhansi SSP Kiran S said that the SP city has been assigned to investigate the case. An FIR has been registered in the case. The accused inspector might be suspended.
