Three Uttar Pradesh policemen were suspended after they detained a young couple at a Ghaziabad park as part of an ongoing anti-Romeo drive, described as a crackdown on people harassing women in public places, officials said on Saturday.

The couple were taken to a police station though no women police personnel was present, mandatory for detaining women.

The incident came amid widespread criticism of a section of police who are accused of resorting to moral policing in the name of reigning in criminals.

According to reports some policemen was seen harassing fish sellers in name of new guidelines issued by Yogi Adityanath government.

*As in Some parts of Uttar Pradesh the reports which are coming it suggest that the few officers in Administration who were lazy in the tenure of previous government showing extra energy which is creating doubt.

*It Seems some officials trying to defame Uttar Pradesh government by acting aggressively in opposite direction.

*According to reports officials in several places seen saying 'Aur Do BJP ko Vote' now be ready for these actions.

*UP Cabinet Minister Siddharth Nath Singh said the government has issued no such order to shut down  shops selling meat or eggs in the state. Singh also urged people not to believe 'rumours' being circulated on the social media.

*The minister also asked the officials not to get "overexcited" while acting against the slaughterhouses.

NGT Report of 2015:

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has made that clear that against these unlicensed slaughterhouses, he was only implementing an NGT (National Green Tribunal) order passed in 2015. In May 2015, the NGT had ordered the shutting down of all slaughterhouses but Akhilesh Yadav government of that time did not taken any action on the report.
