Earthquake of magnitude 5.2 hits Uttarakhand with epicentre near Dharchula

Dehradun: A moderate intensity earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale shook Uttarakhand late Thursday night.

The epicentre has been located close to Dharchula in Uttarakhand.According to the the MeT department the quake hit Champawat, Pithoragarh,Nainital,Almora and Udham Singh Nagar districts of the state.

It is to be noticed that quake with a latitude of 29.8 degree north and a longitude of 80.6 degree east occurred at 10.23 pm.

However, the depth of the quake has been estimated at 10 km.

Though, there was no immediate report of any casualty from anywhere.More details awaited.
