The havoc created by heavy rains in the state of Maharashtra has been the talk of the town over the last few days, with places including Mumbai and its other neighbouring areas drowning into rains since 6 days. Some places are facing water logging and heavy traffic while others are suffering from wall collapses and problems in mobility. Late Tuesday night, we had another such issue reported that would shook the people. The great Tiware dam built in Ratnagiri on Chiplun faced rupture due to heavy rains and swept away with people and houses. Atleast 6 people have been reported to have lost life while 16 still remain missing.

The dam breached at around 10 at time leaving no time to inform the villages residing down in Chiplun. The number of people missing is likely to increase, said an Official from the rescue team operation. The local police team along with district disaster management cell, fire brigade and local villagers have started the search operations for the missing villagers.
