As heavy rains continue to lash Mumbai and it's neighbouring areas School Education Minister Ashish Shelar on Monday night announced that the schools would remain closed on Tuesday, July 2 in Mumbai, Thane, Navi Mumbai and Palghar. Some 25 people were reported to have died in the ciy of Mumbai due to heavy rains. The constant heavy showers on Monday with a forecast of some more rains forced the administrators to announce a public holiday in the city.

The raining showers in the last five days have been recorded to be the heighest in the last 10 yerars. There are incidents of walls collapsing and houses shattering all around making Mumbai become standstill. People are stuck in various areas suffering waterlogging. The search and rescue operations are on full swing said the fire brigade officials. Besides these operations, the teams are also busy clearing debris around the city to help and aid people.
